I have a 1985 corvette and the other day i noticed a ticking sound that appears to be coming from the valve cover area. Any ideas, suggestions.
Runs great only 55,000 miles. Thanks.

Could be the injector noise which is considered normal.

Couldn't be lifter noise could it?

it is pretty normal for the engine to tick a little bit... the injectors make some noise, along with the rockers.... is it loud? or is it just a pretty faint ticking? Your best bet is to find another C4 owner and listen to their car... i bet you will hear the same noise:)

Captain Hooks crocodile following you around? :crazy (sorry...couldn't resist)

My car ticks a little. It has always done this since i bought it. I have put many miles on the car without the noise getting louder or anything. Yeah i would find another C4 owner and compare "ticks".

Mine has that tick too. It sounds like an old fashioned 'valve tap'.
Don't know what it is--but its no biggie.
Nothing to worry about.

Did it just start? You can get a piece of wooden dowel or broomhandle and put it around the engine against your ear as an antique stethascope to find it. Rocker arm, pushrod, injector or a bomb.

I think it's cool listening to all the stuff whirring around in there.
