Tightening C1 tie rod clamps.

I have a complete new front suspension and decided to tighten down the tie rod clamps till I am ready for alignment. Makes me nervous just leaving them loose. I tightened quite a bit until the two halves of the clamp were almost touching and I could still turn the tie rods easily. I know their is a certain position for the clamps to be in in relation to the tie rod slit. Thanks for any replies guys.

The split in the clamp needs to line up with a slit in the tube to clamp the best.
