Anyone know any secrets to replacing this seal (in car)? The balancer puller / installer that I have doesn't clear the rack tube on my '86.

Hi there,
Unfortunately, you will have to use the GM remover on this. PN j23523 is the Kentmoore tool number.
You will have to remove the power steering line to gain access, along with the water pump pulley.
Let us know how you do, c4c5

Thanks for your reply.

I used a Snap On puller set which worked fine to pull the balancer off (after undoing the power steering line).
I then replaced the seal and re-installed the balancer with a Hastings balancer installer.

Total time, about two hours.. cause I had to paint the balancer, pulley and bolts of course!
