Tire Pressure Sensor seals

When you look at the TPS you see a "0" ring at the base of the valve stem. Is this the only seal needed then when mounted just tighten down the nut over the valve stem or is there a seal ("0" ring supposed to go on before the valve stem)? Mine is a 1998 C5.

The one O ring is all that is used. Just be sure to use a new one each time. No sense in taking a chance since you already have it out. Happy crusin'.

Thanks, Paul. The TPS is fresh in the box so the only "O" ring is the one that is built into the TPS. As I understand your note if this were not new fresh out of the box and I had broken the tire down for some reason and was putting it back on the rim then I should use a new "O" ring? Sense this is a new TPS I don't need another? Just want to make sure so I don't have to go back and do something over.

Sounds like you are good to go. The new TPS would have a new O Ring. You are correct in your assumption that I was referring to re-installing an old TPS. With all the hassle of breaking down the tires, it is cheap insurance to replace the old O ring. Also, since you are installing a new TPS, you will have to have it married to your system. If you do not have the magnets or a manual to perform this operation, your dealer can do it for you in just a few minutes. Good luck.

The "O" ring (grommet, tire valve) is serviced separately under part #25715243. Your dealer can refer to TSB #03-03-10-004.

Sorry haen't had an opportunity to come back here and post. Since my sensro was new I didn't need an additonal seal so thought I would pass that feedback on. Now if it were a sensor that I was putting back that was used I would defintiely use another seal.

This is my first post here! You can go to any hardware store and ask for a #9 "0" ring. Cost will be about $3.00 for a bag of 10. Perfect replacement! I know I just changed out all four of mine.
