My 64 spare tire tub has bolts on the front, they have a round head with flats on 2 sides. The V shaped support brackets does not allow the use of an adjustable wrench to turn the bolts. Is there a tool available, or how have some of you accomplished removal of these bolts? Do I resort to using a regular socket that will fit over the bolt then welding in metal to grip the flats?

If I understand your question correctly, you have no problem. You're talking about the long bolts towards the front of the car, right?

Remove the spare tire and the fiberglass tub. You should then be able to raise the door (floor) above the bolts and then easily get a wrench tool on them.

The bolts I am referring to are the ones that go thru the V shaped support on the lower tray and hold it to the frame.

I must be a little slow today it took reading your post again, but I think I have it now.... Thanks for the help....

also when i took mine off i used a end wrench on the nut where the bolts go to the frame-just backed them right out that way--maybe it will work for you
