Transmission hard kit or soft kit?

I've been thinking about doing something for my auto transmission. Currently, when I mash down on the gas, the transmission thinks about shifting for about a second, then it drops a gear, then it drops another gear, then it goes like crazy. The problem is it takes too long to get shifted. The whole process takes about 2 seconds of fumbling before it takes off. My competition is already in gear and rolling off.

So I was wondering wether a kit like the Transgo Reprogram would fix the problem, or would something like a computer reprogram with a handheld device like the Hypertech work just as well. I've heard the 4L60E (that's what I have), doesn't need a hardware kit since it is electronic; just tell the computer to up the pressure and change the shift points.

Any comments?
