Just wanted to know where the transmission fluid refill is on my 1975 vette? It has an automatic T400 in it that was recently rebuilt, I just puchased it off e-Bay and it is leaking fluid due to a stripped bolt fastener on the front of the pan. I will be puchasing literature for maintaining the vehicle myself but I wanted to fix this first. Where is the refill plug, how should I fix the stripped bolt fastenter? should I retap it, and what type of transmission fluid should I use. Thanks for the help.

First, don't panic.

The fill is thru the dipstick. Running engine, in park, on a fairly level surface. Pull the stick just like checking the engine oil. Look at BOTH sides of the dipstick. When it's full, it will be on the full line and both sides will be the same. Fluid is Dexron III

For the pan bolt, you need a heli-coil. NAPA has them. 5/16 USS thread. Install the heli-coil and no more stripped bolt.

Thanks alot I am really happy for a website like this. I am really excited to be a part of the corvette hobby. FINALLY!
