I seriously believe a properly rebuilt mid-year distributor, with the proper springs, points and vac can for the SHP engine like you have, will provide perect service for you. I also second the coil advice, although spooky coil issues usually present themselves once a higher temprature has been achieved, in other owrds, a bad coil problem is not often showing itself at start-up, more likely once you are in the middle of I-95 on a warm summer evening in a little stop and go - that was where mine acted up and allowed me to visit with Mr. Flat-bed tow truck. Nonetheless, a basic no frills coil appropriate for your car is a $30 dollar item at most, forget the high output jobs, and YOU (yes YOU Barry) are quite capable of swapping out a coil. Trust us, we'll have you swapping out your entire engine soon enough . . .
