CORVETTE has slashed the price of its 200mph supercar by a whopping £7,000.
The price of the hugely-powerful 500bhp Z06 model falls from more than £62,000 to just under £55,000 in a bid to combat credit-crunching shifts towards more environmentally-friendly models.
Even the entry-level C6 coupe and convertible models get reductions of more than £6,000, making the coupe £40,000 instead of £46,000 while the convertible is now £46,500 rather than £53,000.
All the models are blistering quick, as illustrated by the race-bred Z06 model's sprinting ability to 60mph in just 3.9 seconds and a top speed nudging 200mph.
The entry-level 437bhp C6 coupe can reach 60mph in just 4.3 seconds and has a top speed of more than 185mph.
Unfortunately such prodigious performance comes at the cost of economy and environmental friendliness, with economy only just above 20mpg and CO2 emissions as high as 350g/km.
