hi there all,
i just ordered from tpis ( tuned port injection specialists)the 3 piece underdrive pulley kit and belt for $150.00!
tpis claims that the pulley kit can produce up too 11 r.w.h!

can that be close?

does it make a diffrence and can you notice a slight diference in power?

also r.e mini ram systems such as the tpis kit, does any other maufacture make them besides tpis that you know off?
i heard that " accel" make them as well!
also tpis says that you can gain up to 50 hp from there mini ram maifold with the short runners!
can any one please verify some info/facts at all please?
thanks

11 hp-- yeah right--prove it.

notice an improvement?..sure,washing my car DOES make it run better.

chevy makes a mini-ram--its called an lt1 intake....ez mod to put one on a tuned port...i did it on mine and it works great...the 50 hp gain is a semi-truth--torque drops off severely on the tuned port after 4300 rpm, while the lt1,or mini-ram,or a carb will do better torque numbers up at higher revs...since hp is TxRPM,its a game. if u buzz the motor u can take advantage of that hp, but 'normal' driving-no gain...looks better and much easier to work on tho.

Most all of the suppliers of things like underdrive pulleys exagerate their HP claims as much as they can get by with.

The underdrive pulley mod does offer a gain, but anytime I see such makers claims I cut them in half or more as an estimate of the real gain.

BTW, the underdrive pulleys can NOT produce horsepower, but they can free up a little power.

Good luck,

He is correct, my 96 LT4 has this from the factory that is why my Vette has a 140 amp alternator. Because the under drive smaller pulleys turn slower than the stock one's.

Read Nathan Plemons Building LT1 performance, he explains the hype on all these so called bolt on power makers, and why they dont work , or even come close to what they advertise aswww.edu/`Nathan.Plemons/htmls/performance.html

I think thats it

Pretty good read! It had some very useful info. Although I have the L98, I assume it still applies fairly similar. Good info.
Thanks

The theorys are all relavent and make sense, although the heads are different on the LT1 as described, and the reasons for it,along with the high temp clarifications,The info is very informative, and like said before, will save alot of money for people who just love buying every gizmo in the parts catelogs.
