So now I have to find out the final outcome. I just dont understand how a car stolen in newyork can be registered in florida. I always thought the DMVS were connected to each other so that if a vin is flagged as stolen it cant be re-registered in another state

When I spoke to the man regarding the update that was posted at the Hemmings blog, he indicated that the person in question had actually been a prior owner of the car.. so either the people who stole the car knew that and offered it back up to him to own again, or that registration detail was old in the computer it was checked on.
