Long story short, had my Callaway in the shop to have a braided hose going into one my turbos replaced (sprung an antifreeze leak), new starter put in (old one was going quick), and a freeze plug replaced (conector found to be cracked when replacing starter).

The shop I have it at has always been great with my vehicles. In fact today I found out they had called Callaway and spent a few hours resolving the non-stock starter issue.

Anyway, they get my car all back together, turn the key, she fires right up ... but wait, the idle starts surging. Took it for a quick test drive, idle would surge when you came to a stop, then it would drop and the car would stall -- no 'check engine light' :hb

They have the car and say they will have fixed by tomorrow (no additional charge), and I'm sure they'll find the problem. But as I sit here tonight pondering the issue, I figured I'd ask what you all think has caused the sudden surging. Was running great when it went in and they didn't touch the engine, except to replace the knock sensor.

P.S. Gift to myself next year - Kwiklift, so I can do bottom end work myself.

Not sure if it's the same as my non callaway 86, but when I forgot to reoconnect the EST wire after setting the timing it did that and threw a code 42 which told me right away that I was stupid :bash and forgot to plug them together.

Just a thought.

I bought my first Callaway with a similar trouble. It would buck pretty bad on a normal or should i say part throttle open take off. It NEVER gave a code, would surge and stall intermittently at a stop. All adjustments, TPS, IAC, timing, FI bleed down test, fuel pressure....................... came out normal. Then I replaced the MAF sensor and BINGO it was cured. I also replaced the power and burn off relays at the same time- cheap insurance. She was like a new car. I also want to mention that Callaway Cars helped me with this unusual problem and NEVER gave up trying to help me resolve the trouble. I probabaly spent 2-3 hours of phone time with them and there was never a mention of charges or reluctence to continue helping me. That IS the primary reason I purchased a second B2K without hesitation! Hope that helps!

I think that might be my next step. The shop ran the codes and got nothing, they also hooked it up to their diagnostic computer and every once in a while got a MAF code (can't remember what they said it was). Anyway the replaced the relays and thought they had it fixed. Pick up my car and when I stopped for gas, it started doing it again -- only at low RPMs. This morning I started it up and wouldn't idle; it would just die if I didn't keep my foot on the gas. Well, she goes back to them tomorrow to see what they can do; but something tells me it might time to replace the MAF. Thanks for the info.

Do you have a friend that can let you borrow a MAF ? If so, bolt it on when it's acting up. You'll have an answer real quick. The MAF does control alot of what your having problems with, so it very well could be the MAF.
