Recently paid the registration (VLF) on my 84 and only cost me $47.00 but as of 10/01/03 the California vehicle license fee's will triple so it's going to cost me $141.00 next year which still isn't too bad in comparison to someone who just recently purchased a new Vette. OUCH!!!!!!!! Well, I just needed to vent and wasn't sure where to post this. At least the weathers nice in California lol:(

BOY, THEY SURE DO TRY TO MAKE IT HARDER ON BLUE COLLAR

no chit! i'd move to another state with no emission or low emission laws and stupid taxation on stupid stuff. like it's the working mans fault california is bankrupt. :eek

I just paid 140.00 for collector plates and that's the last time I have to pay for registration.

Now all together say:

THANK YOU GUBERNER DAVIS! THANK YOU LT. GUBERNER BUSTERMANTE! THANK YOU MR. LEGISLATOR!

Yep..... You ought to move....When I reregistered my 85 in May it was 42.00 for reg and plate in Ohio....52.00 for my Blazer cause of the Masonic plates.

Just waiting on some job offers the next state over where there are no smog checks (in most areas) and no state taxes. Yes, I can see it now. A place where you can still get a home for under 200k. A place where I can roam the desert highways in my Vette free of emission controls. Ahhhhhh the joy of it all :Twist

Don't think it's just Cali, folks. The damn elitest liberal do gooders are trying to get our wallets and get us out of our cars on the whole west coast:mad It seems that if there are big cities in your state (and we all have them) there's no getting away from these Ba$t@rds:r

They can never get enough from us mean spirited selfish hard working (rich) people to take care orf their precious wasteful government programs. (read handouts).:pat

I escaped from Caly-fornya in 1990 but we next door neighbhors have smog inspections (Arizony, too).

I thought it was bad in Texas. :) Just renewed my 90 and it cost $52. But at least we don't have an income tax on top of that :D

tom...

Cost in Canada

Cost in Canada, at least up here in Quebec is insane! $255.00 a year per vehicle!!! Thank God I only have 2 cars :crazy

WE have got so many different taxes to own a car in the Commonwealth of VA that you just give them your first born as collateral till you can arrange a loan to pay the bill. Sales tax, property tax, license fees, county sticker, safety inspection, and then on top of it all income tax. What we get in return is the money hungry bueracrats trying to pass legislation to impose more taxes to fund their out of control spending on assinine projects. In the meantime we drive on terrible roads and bridges that are needing repairs, clogged interstates that need to have new lanes added, and suffer through reduction in services ( like closing the Dept of Motor Vehicles offices around the state) in an effort to blackmail us into believing we need additional tax revenue. What we need is a reduction of the fat cat politicians, a combining of services within state and counties, and a fair taxation of everyone. Government has gotten way out of control and the common working man can no longer support the non-essential spendthrifts who act like the revenue generated by taxation is a never ending source of money. Sorry for the rant but enough is enough.

What really gets me is that somewhere along the line we all forgot who works for who. We pay them....they should work for us and do as told....but no...we now pay them to let us work for them and do as we are told...

And everyone is too darn lazy or scared to do anything about it.
And on top of it all...we let them pass laws to keep us paying them to let us work for them or we go to jail.
Pretty sad state of affairs...

Hopefully things will begin to change for the better in your state about next week!

man, that's gotta hurt.

The plate cost for my 2001 Tahoe is about $500 per year here in Indiana . Fortunately they use money from the state lottery to cut it in half and the cost goes down as cars get older . Cliff

I just paid $112 on my '75 BEFORE the fee went up. Splain that?

$36.00 per year...:D

My Mother pays 4 times that for her '96 Cavalier in Connecticut.
