Hi guys, When I had my tranny rebuilt, the mechanic left my vehicle speed sensor disconnected. It promptly burnt the connector against my exhaust and melted it. He cannot find one, and the Chevy dealer says that they are not available any longer. I cannot find the connector anywhere...Help.

What a coincidence! I just went through exactly the same thing when I had my wiring project done. In my case, the electrician doing the work was able to go through the list of connectors and swithces for all the GM line of cars and found a match in something else, but I'm not sure which one he used. Sorry. :(

What he did was go though the list and compare the old one to what was available. ;)

Is it possible to improvise here a little. I don't know what the electrical connection looks like but, maybe a solder connection to the terminals with some shrink tubing and the same with the melted plug. I'm sure an auto store would have some kind of undercarriage connector. Good Luck!

Thanks gentlemen, I have tried to improvise a little myself, but the exhaust is right in the way, and I had to use a flashlight and mirror to even see into the sensor holes....Can I actually unscrew the sensor without causing too much work......it scares me to take anything out of my tranny....not sure what else it is connected too....

Thanks for the help.

Kevin

Kevin - that GM dealer is full of it! GM# 12126452....I have one in stock for $17.85. If interested send me an email.

Thanks Burglar,

I gave the tranny shop your part # and they said that GM told them the number was not right....They ordered something anyway, and it turned out to be wrong...When I asked them what was their next step....?? She told me I was On my own. I should have turned it into their insurance when I turned in the large scratch that they put on my car.....Can you believe that?

The shop name is: John's Transmission in Fayetteville, Arkansas. I will give anyone more details if they are thinking about using them for a fix.

I will order that part tomorrow and give it a try.

Thanks for the help.

I will let you know if it works.

Kevin - My guess is the GM dealer didn't want to admit they were wrong. That plug is the correct one for the speed sensor. It infuriates me how some GM dealerships treat Corvette owners. I hope you get your problem resolved.

Dave

Hi Dave,

Can you let me know what the cost with shipping will be and I will send you the money for the Speed sensor plug?

Thanks for your help.

Kevin
