I just wanted to say hello to everyone. I'm a newbie here.
I purchased my first Vette (1978) a couple of days ago, and
I love it. I'm not up on the technical aspects of a Vette, but
this thing has alot of power, and a unique looking scoop.
I'll have a photo posted soon, once I borrow my parents cam.

Everybody says that I got it for a good price, but it does
have a few problems, that I'm trying to figure out. The
speedometer is about 25mph off the actual speed, but
that may be due to the many mods done to this machine.

Also, a few other problems.. the heater vents under the dash
board pushes out hot air constantly, even when the heater is off.
Also, their is a switch next to the heater, and I haven't figured
out what its for. I flip it but nothing seems to happen anywhere.

Other than these problems, the car is amazing. I'm 28 and I've
had a few japanese cars, including a sporty Nissan 200SX, but
none of them compare to this beast. I'm just happy to have one.

Welcome Yook.

Congrats on the 1978 purchase. (not that I am biased, or anything...)

I think the switch next to the heater/ac control is for your rear defroster. Flip it up and it turns on, flip it down and it turns off. Does a little green light light up?

The heater constantly blowing hot air could be a vaccum problem or something wrong with the internal switches? I'm not sure, but I know people have had questions about this...if you do a search with the key words: heater and/or vent, you should be able to pull up these discussions. Most will be posted in the C3 tech forum.

-er ah, be a mite careful about pookin around...

-Yook: -FYI best check your owners-manual affore further willie'nillie flippin of unknown switches; --especially that one unmarked "Seat-Jetison" switch, --another member here, yah it was the above Vet'Cop guy actually (Daryl's got lights just like that on his Vette!), who inadvertantly (his mind being distracted habitually checking license-plates) sent his gorgeous date right through the fortunately open roof -whooshZowie!, --she having rather amazingly landed "plunk" perfectly OK in the open convertible following just behind (it was a Z06, so she opted to stay'n finish her date with that guy I hear)..

Thanks for the warm welcome and the help.

I should have known that switch was for the rear defrost, but I
think that their is a problem with it. The light doesn't come on,
and it makes a funny sound when I flip it. I went out in it today
since it was around 70 here. I'll be reading up on the heating
page, to try and remedy that problem before it gets too hot.

Don't see too many older Vettes up my way. Alot of people
making hand signals to me. I thought they were flipping me
off at first. :L but they were making the V sign back at me.

I'll get a photo uploaded soon. Is their a thread here with
all of the members and pics of their cars, or only in the SIGs?
I think its neat to see what everyone else here has, and
what they are doing with it. Nice to find a group of Vette lovers.

I don't think there is a thread...

...with the members pics. We would tend to get sidetracked and have a lot of conversations between pics. :D

We do have a Member's Gallery, but I don't think that everyone has made use of it. Most people post a pic of themselves or their vette in their profile, which you can see by clicking on that user's name.

Do you know about the wave? :w
