A friend of mine, just purchased a 62 vert. I must say it is a very sweet car, probably the straightest I have seen in a long time. Anyways, we both have some issues with the way the vin tag looks. Can anyone tell the the length and width of an original vin tag, and also the digit height. We have suspicions that this one was a reproduction. Thanks for the info.

Was the car purchased out of NJ from a dealer? there has been 2 cars being advertized from a dealer out of jersey, then ran on ebay quite a few times.
one of the vins was made from a peice of stainless steel. I think the car was white or green, the other car had no vin tag. the dealer was quite chatty on how rare a car it was and all of the vettes vital statistics and that I would be the talk of the car cruises, but as soon as I questioned the vin he got shy and let me know he knows nothing about vettes only what the guy who owned the car told him.
Well this car is Honduras red or something like that. The car was bought in the central Indiana area. If I can get access to it through my friend, I will try to take a pic witht he digital camera. Also can someone clear up how it is actually attached to the steering column. We looked on ebay, and saw one that looked like it was riveted, dont know how but that is what it looked like. I told him I was fairly sure it was spot welded at each end.
