Noitced that my radio was cutting out anytime I used the turn signals/brake lights. Also, the batterrary wouild not hold a charge. Figure it had to be an alternator problem. When I put a meter on it the alternator was putting out 9.5 volts. Assume I need a new alternator or to rebuild. How much should it cost to have it rewound?

Find a local rebuilder shop ("starter-generator shop" in the yellow pages) and they can rebuild it a LOT cheaper than you think, in your existing cases (if it's an original alternator and that matters to you). It should put out 14.0-14.5 volts when rebuilt.
