I need an intake manifold for my 1973 L-82. GM part number is 3997771 and I need a casting date of January or early February 1973. Engine assembly date is 2/26//73.

I need to check the casting date on mine but it's off my '73

Off of my '73 L-82, I have an intake with casting 340261. This is actually the casting number for the 1974 model but is the same HP rating as 3997771. Let me know if you want it.

The L-48 engine used the same casting number which will open up your possibilities.

herminator- what is the casting date on the 340261 please. This is for a revision in the NCRS judging guides.

The only other stamping I see is J263. Does this help or where would I find the date?

J =Sept. 23 1973. This is well after the end of '73 production so would have originally been on a '74. I'm looking for evidence of 261 manifolds made in May June July '73 to support a theory that late '73s had these from the factory. Conversely, I'm looking for a lack of 7771s made in the same time period to prove my point:D

Sorry for the hijack!

OK, looks like someone put a '74 intake on the car prior to my ownership. I wonder why? I did find the build sheet and the car was made June 1, 1973
