1989 Blue Z51 6 spd Manual Transmission
Hello,

I am new to this forum. In Feb this year I bought a 1984 Corvette with 4 spd manual transmission. the car is stock. I have replaced the fuel pump and fuel filter. The car starts up on one to three cranks. But, it will not warm start. When it is running for a while and I shut it off I need to pour gas or starter fluid into one of the TBI units. It then starts instantly.
Looking at the TBI when I go to start the car. There is NO injector pulse until the car is running. I just hate going some where and having to lift the hood to leave.

Anyone know what is going on here.
I thought that Fuel Injectors would pulse to give the car the gas it needs to start.
I am sure that the fuel pump comes on with the key.

Thank you for the help.

Hi Joe,
welcome to the Site. :CAC

Sorry not too sure what this could be, something to do with it heating it up and blocking the fuel..

Did you take off the air filter box and see the fuel spray in the injectors? That would be my first thought to check to make sure you get a nice cone of fuel into them.

Hopefully somebody with more knowledge will stop by shortly and lead you to the fix.

Hi Stefan,

Yes I did remove the air box and I am sure that when the car is running the injectors are working properly. What I am trying to find out is are the injectors supposed to pulse when the key turns on, or even with the spark from the initial cranking of the engine. Does anyone have a service manual that will tell me the order to trouble shoot the problem.

Let me bump this up for you for someone with more knowledge on a 84 XF jump in..
