Hi all, as I'm getting things disconnected and ready to yank the eng. I found a problem. The one head has the temp sending unit. The other head has a temp switch that operates the elect.fan. Problem is its 1/2 npt and the new dart heads are 3/8 npt. If I use bushings to adapt I'm afraid it won't stick in the water far enough. Anyone know if they sell a smaller unit or have any ideas?

It doesn't matter how far it sticks in the water. The water is under pressure and will find the sensor.

Make sure that the sensor portion of the unit does not make contact with the bushing. Thread to thread is okay. If the lower smooth sensor tip touchs or grounds against the bushing, you will not get the correct reading as when you tighten it, there may be damage to the sensing portion.

This comes from the been there, done that...bought a new sensor files!

You can run a drill or dremel through the end of the bushing to make 100% sure the sensor goes through clean.

I had the same problem with my Dart heads so I moved the sensor up to the manifold next to the water neck.
