Wax?

Anyone have a suggestion of a good wax to use on a Vette?

I had been using Zymol for years until... I just used Zaino for the first time. Best stuff I have ever used. You won't be disappointed in the product. It takes time to apply, but the results are worth it.

Best I've ever used is Formula 113 wax and spray detailer. Great shine and easy to use.

Haven't had the chance to try it myself, but I have been reading a lot of good things about Meguiar NXT. I have used other Meguiar products and all have performed well.

I use Mothers classic wax on my white 95, works great! I just wish I could see beter it when it dries.

Car Wax

Ditto on the Mothers. They have a four step system that you can get on the web or at any Pep Boys. 1. Mothers Car wash
2. Cleaner to remove old wax
3. Wax
4. Polish

I may hace 3 & 4 reversed but this stuff is great. They also have other products as well. Aluminum polish, Chrome polish, spray detailer, plastic polish etc. My vette is bright red and she really shines when finished.

GREETINGS , i see a lot of different opinions on waxes,but no one has mentioned using a glaze first. i saw Barry Maguire on tv one day discussing the reason for glazing before waxing. seem that no matter how smooth you think the surface is there are always irregularities in it. so the sunlight bounces off in irregular patterns also.
Mr Maguire said that the glaze help fill some of those surface problems which cause the light to bounce in a regular pattern,hence shinier surfaces.
the theory sold me. so now i use Maguire's #7 show car glaze and #26 yellow wax on the Harleys and the Vette.

I have always used Mothers Carnuba. It goes on nice and comes off pretty easily and leaves a good shine.

I've always used 3M Glaze first ...usually springtime, however, if it's been a nasty summer and a lot of washings sometimes I use it 2x a year. Anyhow, I wax after the glaze....it really does cover a lot of imperfections..

FYI.. I bought the NXT kit direct from Meguiar's. The retailers over here in W. Michigan....(autow zone) and the like have never heard of this. With a money back guarantee, how could you lose? Rob, promise you this.....I WILL write a review after I try it. Either way good or bad...

The Mr. Clean Autodry System works very well. Polymer no-spots rinse is perfect.

Meguiar's, nxt kit...works as advertised and ground (free shp) only took three days. At $39.90 per kit.....I bought 2

easy on/off

deep color:
hides imperfections quite well....however, at the right angle under a fluro lite in the garage you can see the scratches, but most of the stuff is removed.

no dust:
and if you use their detaling cloth behind your buffer/cotton towel, there are no streaks to have to wipe down w/damp towel after words....

I did 2 cars and hardly dented the bottle. Yes, it's pricie, but it takes very little product to do 2 cars.

kit contains:
1-20ct. wash strips
2-detailing wipes
1-Hot tire shine........adjustable 3 position nozzle........works great and only 2passes around the tire.....uses less and no overspray.....none
1-nxtech polish
1-nxtech vinyl rubber protector


Looks like the folks from Meguiar's are definitely back on top. Btw, I and others consider my detailing to be near perfection. Folks keep telling me I'm obsessed. I have an extremely critical eye.

I can't agree more about the Meguiar's NXT wax/polish being a great product. I'm a Zaino follower with a graveyard of other polishes and waxes....not sure why I don't just throw some of them out. Anyways, it's a better product then the Zaino line and certainly easier to purchase. I've waxed the truck three times and the vette at least 10 or more and it looks like a mirror. Only thing I hated was the little foam pad was too small for my hands and the vinyl protector is awful.....it just doesn't flow on smoothly and it was so thick I seemed to have to feel too greasy of a coating.

I'm also known for my detailing abilities and anal approaching to taking care of my vehicles. Thanks to the detailing guy as I have learn so much from his comments here and at his website. Some old habits are hard to break but his information is worth the read and time.

Since your car is black i would recommend the black turtle wax. It works wonders and will hide tons of scratches.
