I bought the 82 vette and I feel good about it. Did i get a great price - nah, did I get a great car - i hope so. I do think that I got a good deal and I feel good about it. I only put down one price and went to work and if I won I won. I used my b'day 31361 to come up with the price and oddly enuf I checked the bid once and it just happened to be 3 hours 13 minutes before the end of the auction!
So i want to thank you all for your thoughts and ideas and they really did weigh on my mind- and I think its a good car - some of you will get to see it in person! I was thinking about how crazy this week has been and how i really liked the car and the owner and that it would be nice to spend the summer driving in the car instead of driving around looking at cars. I hope that idea doesn't come back to bite me later on!
I am so excited :-)
I am off for the night to celebrate being a member with a car!
Lori :cool

Congrats... I am sure you will have a lot of questions. Feel free to ask them, but you might want to use the "search" feature first before asking all your questions. There is a lot of material that has already been covered. Congrats again and I'm sure you will be picking up a "special" cloth to clean her with now aren't you?

WAY TO GO LORI!
We gotta hear about your first drive, the first time your son sees it and how you didn't sleep the first night it was home because you had to keep checking the garage to be sure it was REALLY there! ;)
Heidi :w

Congratulations, Lori!

You are going to have a great time with your new ride! You are right when you say it is more exciting to drive one than look at them all day.

Be sure to ask all your questions here! I enjoy reading the posts just to learn new things. Which I do every day.

Save The Wave! :w

congratulations! post some pics as soon as you can! hope you love it, I'm sure you will. there's nothing like driving that car around to make you feel like you own the world!

Huge congrats on the Shark! Now wipe that grin off of your face - oh wait, I forgot, it's permanent:D.

You're gonna have to update your profile now;).

Enjoy!

Congrats Lori!..When I bought mine in Oct. last year it was an electrical nightmare, no blower, dash lights, headlights etc. but after searching all the posts in this forum I have put about 6,000 miles on it troublefree (allmost). I don't thing there is a problem you can have that someone here has'nt run into so don't hesitate to ask if you need help with anything.
Happy Vetting!
Gary

Congratulations, Lori!! I know you can't wait to get her home...let us know when the big day happens!:)

And, Guy is right...you'll definitely need to attend the August 13 "Corvettes Conquer Cancer" in Nashua, NH!!:m

Thank you all! I love this place and yah the grin is huge on my face!!
I sent an email off re tickets for Aug 13th - thank you for letting me know. I might bring a good friend of mine who is riding on my corvette coat tails! lol.
Is there a table of CAC folks?
Thank you again - this is so much fun already!
Lori

Finally, back as a Corvette

Owner since having one in 1990 (an 81), all I can say is congrat's. I am definitely enjoying being back.:)

I did really like the 81/82 body style:upthumbs

Your gonna love it! No doubt about it. Its like missle going down the road and the narrowness of that body in particular is really cool. Just hunker down and put the petal to the metal!

CONGRATS!

Actually, I think we're now on Table #2 of CAC folks! We'll add you and your friend!!! It will be a fun evening.

My 81, which I purchased new in 81 had one factory design problem that showed up at about 51K miles; that being the #3 valve cam lobe rounding out as a result of the higher running temperture caused by the exhust gas recovery system that routes the hot gas up into the intake manifold near #3 cylinder. The shop that replaced the cam told me that the factory had failed to properly harden the cam to compensate for the increase in head temperature. The replacement cam evidently must have been better since I have since put about 75K miles on it. The cam failure was evident by a rough idle that caused me to take it to a local vette shop to find the cause. Your 82 may not be suspect, if the factory had corrected it mistake by then. I never hear of any recall related to a cam / idle problem, you may also want to read any computer error code that may be stored in you control module.

Really? Hmmmmm my 81 has 103000 miles on it and it runs great but does idle rough. I figured it was just a carburetor issue and when it got bad enough I was going to deal with it. Is there anyway I can determine if this is a problem with mine without tearing into anything??

Compression test - if the cam is flat the valve isn't opening - no compression
