Welcome to the Corvette Forums at the Corvette Action Center!

Well I timed the car and G-Teched it.

Is that brand pretty reliable? The description said they have been making them since 1960. This may sound stupid, but how do I know they are full rollers?

No such thing as sounding stupid! Yes, they are full roller rockers. Pretty much all (I can't positively say all, though) rockers will have a roller fulcrum. The fulcrum is the part by the stud.

The tip is the end of the roller rocker.

You will also see sets advertised as "roller tip" rockers which leads me to believe that they do not have a roller fulcrum, but they only have a roller tip.

As for reliability, if Mic says they're good, they must be good. I would trust his opinion on the matter. He's built quite a machine!:w

Here's a couple other ideas, all from Competition Products (800-233-0199):

Crane Cams full rollers w/polys: 1.6's 189.95 (PN 11759EB)
Harland Sharps : 197.95 (PN HS1002)
Proform (cheapies - use w/stock spring, but not with high-lift) - 139.95 (PN 66908)
Scorpion (guar. for life!): 194.95 (PN S163). These handle .800" lift!
Miller aircraft alloy: 199.95 (PN 3560BG)

So with getting new roller rockers do I have to buy different valve springs, or can I use the ones that are on the car now?

You can use the same ones... if you're changing cams, then I'd change springs. If you intend on changing cams in the future, buy the better rockers...

Okay, eventually I would like to think I would get that far in the motor. Should I get the ones that I posted before that were like 324 or are those not that much better?

I think a great deal of that price has to do with brand name. There is a threshold where the returns don't really stack up. I think $324 is beyond that threshold, IMO.

I've seen the Scorpion sets on eBay but I never really watched for ending prices nor do I know how good they are.

PS. There is a seller on eBay who goes by: headersforless that sells a good number of our TPI stuff. I've seen TPIS headers and a Big Mouth intake manifold amongst other things.

the only headers I've seen him sell are Hedman (non smog). He doesn't mention Hedman in the product description but that's what they are.
I like them but they can be found cheaper elsewhere.

see the fulcrum? thats a full roller rocker. if it was just a "Roller Tip" rocker it would be only on the Tip end as this one is.

325+ for rockers are a joke! but you know how most people are....... I bought these from GMPP so they gotta be the best! :eyerole whats even more funny is guys with LT4's selling their rockers for 300 used! :L

ya know with that kind of unfindable power loss on a motor with 1200 miles are you sure the timing chain was lined up properly? one tooth off would make the timing issue and fuel knock make sense....just my thoughts

Yeah, hopefully I found the problem with the air filter. With it off it was a lot mor responsive. Hopefully it will stop raining/snowing here tomorrow so I can test it. Thanks for the picture Mic that clears things up a little.

One thing about Vettes, especially C4's they are bottom feeders you have to check the filters and lower areas frequently.

I'd get the Crane Cams for $189 - good name, good product, good price. I think those are what I have, though I got them 2nd hand.

The Harland /Sharps have been around along time . They are a great piece and well worth the money .....I have them on my 383 with AFR heads.

Yeah I know, that with the Ram air I have installed is killer. The car hasn't been drived much since I installed the Ram air so I dunno.

I put the air filter back in, and the throttle response was great compared to what it was, but it still won't roll over the tires unless I flash the converter, I wonder if it is just the tires... ;shrug

drop the hammer about 2500 rpm rolling whatever the mph is.

our L98's with the high gears we have don't like to turn over too much unless you brake stall it or flash it from a dig. mine with the 2.59's is a dog from 5 mph if the tires grab to about 2500 rpm then she comes alive. let me stress the word IF ;)

on DR's i can brake them loose at 40 mph sometimes. from a dig it's ugly!

ask Rich :D

Yeah, I flashed the converter to about 1100, and it rolled them over pretty good, the car even started to go a little sideways. I nailed it at 15 with my brother and ran it to 75, and he said "well that was pretty quick". I guess I will just play it by ear. Thanks guys.
