Could someone please describe what the original floor mats that came with '93 Corvettes looked like?

My recently-purchased C4 has two sets of mats in it. The mats on top are a set of slightly worn black carpeted ones with embroidered C4 emblems on top and velcro strips underneath toward the seat area.

The mats on the bottom are a set of black carpeted ones also with a square vinyl heel pad approximately 6X6 inches on the driver's side. They have good quality rubber backing with anti-skid nibs. I noticed, though, that these mats do not have a velcro strip on the bottom, but rather, a grommet (normally for securing to a hook attached to the carpet). The carpet, however, has a velcro strip directly in front of the seat, which would lead me to believe the original carpets came with velcro also.

I'm just trying to determine if either set was the original one since I'm trying to get the car to as near as original condition as possible. If not, the local Chevy dealer says they can still order them for $48 a set.

I have the embroidered ones in my 94........they are NOT factory original.I purchased them from the internet. My original ones have no embroidery on them...are black...cant remember if they have the rubber square on drivers side...but I think so. I also am not sure about the velcro....I'm sure someone else will chime in soon with better answers for you. (My vette is still in storage,or I'd go look at them now)BTW....where in Sarasota are you? I go there almost every year (Siesta Key).and have a friend that lives on Allendale Dr. :w

The plastic hook in front of the seat is factory, the velcro would be some type of replacement carpet. The mat with the 6 inch square is the factory mat.

JC4 ,
I bought a 93 Competition Yellow coupe off the showroom floor back in 93. I went through all of the photos I have of that car. I have a shot of just about everything except the floor mats! Sorry ’bout that.

I seem to think that the OEM floor mats in 93 did not have a grommet to secure the mats. Be forgiving, I’m going from memory and not hard fact.

I could swear that they [grommets] were added in 94 or 95. I think I remember wishing my 93 had the grommets in the mats when I looked at the 94’s when they came out. I think the driver mat did have a plastic/vinyl wear area that you described.

Some one with OEM mats will chime in -- I may be wrong about the grommets.

Congrats on you Z07, a friend of mine had a 95 Z07, I loved how that thing handled, the faster ratio steering was much nicer than standard issue.

Mine are original in my 93. They are black like the carpet and you can't tell there are mats in the car. They fit like a glove. People always ask me..."where's the floor mats?" No embroidery at all....just black.

My 93 came with replacement mats but I do know this...there is a strip if velcro in the floor carpet in front of the seat for a mat to stick to...that tells me the originals had velcro on them... good luck

Robertwav1, do the original mats in your '93 have plastic grommets and does the driver's side one have the square vinyl heel pad? Also, does your carpet have a velcro strip directly in front of the seat, plastic hooks (for the grommets) or neither? It was interesting that Fuzzy Dice reported that his carpet had the velcro strip, like mine. Zixxer reported that the plastic hook in front of the seat was factory, not the velcro strip, but I would not think that my car had replacement carpet installed since the interior and exterior of the car is like brand new.

Sorry for being so anal about floor mats, but this recently-purchased car is very close to showroom condition and I would like to make the car as close as possible to the way it was delivered from the factory in order to preserve a little piece of automotive history. I cannot obtain the car's early history since the 2nd owner I bought it from purported he cannot remember the name of the original owner he bought it from 2 years in Hallandale, Florida.

Thanks for all your help.

Reefdiver, I now live in Venice, directly south of Sarasota, but used to live on Siesta Key many years ago, so you and I both know that it's got some of best beach sand in the world! I work in Sarasota and Allendale is not too far from where I work close to the Interstate highway.

When do you ususally come down? The local Corvette clubs have several all Corvette shows several times per year. In fact, one is coming up on Lido Key on May 1st (my car is entered).

Seriously, does anyone have a definitive answer? Grommet or no grommet, velcro or no velcro on carpet, heel pad or no heel pad? Inquiring minds want to know !

Thanks for the help !

No.....No grommets.....no velcro.......no velcro on carpet.......no heelpad.....no nothing. They look like the rugs. These are the original floor mats in this car. Hope it helps.
