Does anyone know if the 2004 C5 Z51 package included transmission gearing upgrade. The 2006 package included this, as well as the suspension and brakes and rotors.

Thanks,

Dom,
I don't know if this will fully answer your question, but I found THIS THREAD concerning Z51 performance option package.

Dom,

The Z51 suspension package on the C5's included the following:
  • Higher rate springs
  • Stiffer fixed valve shocks
  • Larger stabilizer bars

Thanks to the watchful eyes of Ron and Craig we need to add two additional items to cover the C5 Z51 package.

    1. Larger brake rotors
    2. Performance rear gesr (6-sp/3:42 Auto/3:15)

    Thanks guys,

Ron, Craig,

Good catches - I've adjusted the list.

Beg to disagree, But

1. All C5 rotors, including Z06s, are the same. Calipers are the same, except Z06s are red. Zs had HP brake pads.

2. 3.42 is standard on all 6 spds, with A4s, the performance rear (3.15) was a required option, which you had to pay for ($395 in 03), in addition to Z51 price (also $395.)

3. Also included a power steering cooler.

C6 Z51 package is much more inclusive (rotors, tranny gearing, coolers) as well as more expensive ($1600.)

My understanding is the Z51 option has 1" larger rotor but uses the same calipers on all C5's including Z06. They do this by changing the caliper bracket to position the caliper correctly. The only differance between a Z06 caliper and a non-Z06 is the red paint. I know this because I do powder coating of calipers (any color you want), for several Vette shops.

Well, my 02 Z51 has the same rotors as every other C5.
