what is that electrical thing under the throttle body

Can you maybe post some pixs? Injector cables? Evap hoses? Idle Air Control? Fuel feed and return lines? PCV valve? ;shrug

Could this be what you are looking at?

"All Gen IV small-blocks receive a new throttle body; for the LS2 it's a huge, single-blade 90mm design that incorporates a motor to actuate the throttle's operation with electronic throttle control (ETC).

All LS2 engines will have electronic throttle control, which dispenses with the traditional cable-operated throttle operation. Instead, input from the gas pedal tells the computer how much throttle movement is needed."

theres a sensor or something that bolts to the bottom of the throttle body and has an electrical connection that some wires plug into. what the hell is it and what is it for
its in the part where the coolant passes thru the throttlebody.

IAC
Idle air control.
it is a stepper motor that controls your idle. basically a variable bleeder valve.

If you remove it for any reason, be sure not to touch the pintle. They are supposed to correct themselves if you push them in, I think, but the last one I replaced wouldn't so I had to buy a new micrometer to set it.

Granted, that was on a Monte Carlo, not a Vette but the principle is probably the same.

Hey GS997 I don't have one but here's a place to check. www.corvettesalvage.com They are just across the border in Picayune, MS they might be able to hook you up. You can call 1-888-467-8388 ask for Adam or Mike.

What's wrong with yours?

Do a search for throttle body. You will find info about cleaning the TB and resetting the IAC. It is a lot like WMDs … close counts. When you reset your idle speed the procedure will close the IAC, after a few seconds of normal operation the computer will sort the IAC out and things will return to normal.

when i took mine out the throttle body, the spring and a plunger looking thing fell out and i lost them. i was hoping i could do without it.
i think i found one locally. the place in picayune, is that dinos corvette salvage? ive been wanting to go by there and check it out.

Yea that's Dino's. Really good guys ... Dino has a thing for '88 Anniversarys and '82 CE's. Last time I was in there he had two Annies and a CE in the showroom. Should be easy to find for ya. Go up I-59 to the second Picayune exit, take a left off the I and follow that road (Hwy 11?) up to the light. Go straight through the light and they are about 5 miles up on the left.

BTW I found a source for new ones. AC Delco P/N 17112193 or Standard Motor Products P/N AC16. Rockauto has them for $67.79 (Delco) and $63.89 (SMP) one cheaper place is GMpartsdirect.com (Flow Chevy in NC) $53.90, but they can be a little slower especially if they don't have them in stock.
