what size cat

thinking about buying high flow cat do you guys know what size my 1990 l98 exhaust pipe is is it 2.25 or 2.50 any help appr.

If you are talking about the main cat and not the precats, the main cat should have an inlet and outlet of 3" The precats are 2.25" I believe but I am not totally sure

That sounds about right. If you have a stock system, then you could get away with what ever the vendor recommends.
