What supplies should i get or carry around with me?

Lori,

I would suggest a gun (and a permit), and the necessary training to use it properly.

You don't want to be one of the sheep.

I'm so glad you raised this....I touched on it

but didn't want to press it....

Amazing how things change for the good in 15 years. Such commonsense considerations are the norm now, not the exception - not instantly considered the ravings of whackos.

It's a pragmatic concern for those in opentop sports cars in bad or remote areas, especially at night and on weekends. While not as big a target as whatever the "carjack SUV/ricer/black forest spl. of the day" that brings top bucks at the chop shop is, if you have a remarkable vehicle there are lowlife who might target you for harassment or worse if they see you. Whether some rowdy teenagers or some worse hoods it's a lot better to be prepared than not.

Driving around the not too bad streets of the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex at all hours, I've had occassion to be happy a weapon was at hand, although to date even a overt display has not proven necessary. (With the way it's running now, I can even have a refrigerator, toilet, TV and couch at hand when I'm in the vette! :mad )

LOL,
Good point, I am glad I have a cell phone and AAA and for now I am not going to venture too far from home.

Don't worry VPB and Bob, I'm not a big drinker. There'll be plenty left.

This must be why it isn't always good to be the first one to show up at a party.

My 81 spare never seems to stay inflated, so I find that keeping a can of "Spare Tire" handy. The tire guys don't like it because it puts a sealent material inside the tire which cause a mess when they break the tire down to fix the leak. The sealent will get you home in short order as long as the leak / hole is small like a nail or the like. One note is that most canned sealents directions say that you should jack the car up so the tire inflates fully and you need to drive the car immediately to spread the sealent and plug the leak.
