What do you think this new "Blue Devil" Corvette should be called?

I'd call it Grand Sport, it sure sounds like a "GS", admiral blue, artic white stripes, red hash marks, red interior!!!!! :_rock Limited Edition...........

A few people have mentioned the legendary ZL-1 moniker. I have to say I like that as well.

It's too early for another ZR-1, and there will already be a Z06 C6.

L-88 is the reigning king of Corvettedom. If the mega-power 427 is to be dethroned by a "Devil" then its name should live on.

The ZL-1 is like the king of L-88's.:) It was an all aluminum L-88 block. Only two were made. No one really knows it's horsepower, but most say around 600.:eek

Hi Guys& Girls, I voted "OTHER", I dont think G.M. should reuse ANY Previously Issued badging!!!!!! They need to be a little more creative!!!! Just my .02 worth:L

True, but because of how rare and short lived it was (1969 only, right?) it doesn't have the aura of L-88 to me, at least.

I really like that idea. It would interesting to see what they might come up with.

Depends...

Well, I'm all for re-using an existing monkier (L-88 a personal fav), UNLESS the 'vette has a totally different body style than the C6, which it probably will.

I can't see naming a totally different body styled 'vette (a FIRST) after an existing creature. This does NOT make sense and would ruin some of the cache of the new vette. Heck, I wouldn't mind them calling it the 'blue devil'....

BTW, is that a throw back to the original 'blue flame'?

That is what I speculated also, but apparently it has something to do with one of the guys at GM being a big Duke fan (the Duke mascot is a blue devil).

If it's going to be a mid-engine world beater, then I think it should somehow honor Zora, maybe ZAD-1, or simply "Duntov". Zora worked so hard for many years to get GM to buy off on a mid-engine Vette. What better way to honor the man that did so much for Corvette.

Rob, how about another choice for voting that would honor Zora? :)

How about "corvette SS" with a kewl little emblem to go with it?
Sherry:)

I voted "Other", only because I would like to see other options as well. I'd also like to know the final specs on the car.

I would be happy with L88 or ZL1 though. Both are incredible cars and if this car is "all that and a bag of chips", then it could carry on the moniker proudly! The Blue Devil will need to be head and shoulders above the base model though. The L88 option was just about the price of the base model itself, so if the Blue Devil follows that trend, then I see no shame in assuming the name L88 or ZL1.

(on a side note: I wonder if the Blue Devil will be exclusive and expensive enough that Rap / Hip-Hop celebrities will add them to their stable of Hummers, Lambos, Ferraris, and such?? :L)

Interesting poll results. Not one person has picked Z06. :L

I thought Z06 was already going to be it's own car and the Blue Devil something else above and beyond that...

Why not just call it a C5R, er, I mean C6R...that seems to be essentially what it's going to be, like the Viper ACR...
