until the thermostate opens it blows ice cold..but
at anything north of 190 degrees..it mediocre at best..
the pressure is up to par.....
is it probably the compressor.?
or do ineed to evacuate the system and re-lube and re-charge it.?
lets vote
:cool

Its 105 degrees in Texas today and I have no AC. My AC sensor switch comes in on Monday. I wish I had you problem :)

If the vehicle has a hot water valve for the heater core, make sure it is operating properly.

Its in the heater housing and it directs air to the heater core or the evaporator. Look in your FSM for a diagnosis chart.

thank you boys..that sounds reasonable...
btw...
what purpose does the coolant line "from" the throttle body serve,.???

Keeps the throttle blades from freezing in cold weather.

thats all..???
i can live without that here in los angeles..
so it does not go anywhere important when it leaves the throttle body..
in theory i could just block the intake and line.?
and plug the exit line..?
or what.?
:)

You will need to bypass the throttle body not plug it up.

I would guess hot coolant is leaking into your header core.

Make sure the cut-off valve works.

I installed a manual valve on my car and it made a huge difference.

Good luck!!

thats what i was askin..so it does need to circulate throught that line that goes ,,somewhere important..like maybe the heater core..??
lol
that would be handy...:w

Make sure the condenser is not blocked, I mean on the outside. I took mine out a few years ago and between the radiator and the condenser there was a lot of leaves and road debris. It was blocked about a third of the way from the bottom. Cleaned it out and cooling for the AC and the motor improved.

These cars are like Giant Hoovers!!:thumb Probly not the blend door as the coolant is circulated only through the Engine and Heater core till the thermostat opens and is redirected through radiator!!:thumb
If there is no Air Flow restrictions in Rad and AC condenser,Have AC system checked for over charge or under charge!!If the charge is OK
also a Accumulator going south can cause this problem,Have the system checked before it cuts the oil supply off to the compressor!! Thats when it starts getting real expensive!!:thumb:thumb:thumb

Solved my A/C problem

I have had a problem with my A/C also, My vette is a C4 1987, I was in Scottsdale this last July, and when there I had it charged, It was HOT, 115 deg. When I returned home to Tulsa,Ok. It was not very cold. I had found a place on the net that I called to talk about the problem.
They were very helpful, and ask me to try there product, when it arrived I installed it, worked great and Its colder then it has ever been, They sent me two cans of industrial R-12, one stop leak and a hose for R-12. NO CONVERSION, This is the link to the business, Just call then and they will help you, and can save you big bucks. This is there link.
Enviro-Safe Refrigerants
I have been very happy with there help. and my A/C is COLD.

I usually jack up the front, open the hood and take a air hose and blow it out back to front!!About once a year I remove the top of the Radiator shroud and Vacuum it,blow it out and then wash it out with water!!:thumb :thumb:thumb
