Welcome to the Corvette Forums at the Corvette Action Center!

whats wrong with my air conditioner.?

I usually jack up the front, open the hood and take a air hose and blow it out back to front!!About once a year I remove the top of the Radiator shroud and Vacuum it,blow it out and then wash it out with water!!:thumb :thumb:thumb

THAnx for the tip..ill figure out the easiest way to acomplish this duty without the benefit of a garage to work in..or a jack or an air hose or ruinning water....and limited parking space and slight brain damage....and............:beer

thats all..???
i can live without that here in los angeles..
so it does not go anywhere important when it leaves the throttle body..
in theory i could just block the intake and line.?
and plug the exit line..?
or what.?
:)

Sounds like the AC itself works fine, until an external function changes it. And if coolant temps are related to the external function that's interfering with the AC, you might wanna' NOT modify the coolant system just yet, until you can see for sure that it is NOT causing the problem...

I had a problem on my 1993 that was similar. One of the two fans quit working. When I was up and running the A/C was ice cold. But stop and go traffic it would stay cold for a bit then start going hotter as the engine did. there just wasn't enough air flow to support the engine and A/C together on hot days.

If you jump the pins to read the codes off the computer the fans should turn on... both of them. if only one fan turns on you have a bad relay or fan motor. or of course, if you see both running while parked and the hood open :)
