1966,and a 1962 thats almost complete
Well I have the motor and trans in and have to find a way to exchaust this car.I tried several different types of headers (borrowed from freinds) and none will fit in so It looks like Ill have to find a set of stock manifolds to fit

Boy was it ever close to fitting

Larry

I know you are on a fast-track schedule on this car, but DAMN! you are really flying on this thing!

Looking Good

That's a squeeker eh? How many can openers did you need to get that in there?:L Just curious, what are you going to use for a front engine mount, the stock front one or weld side mounts in, unless you already have, I can't see in the pictures?

Larry,

That will work for the steering, IF you can get the manifolds in place.
It looks pretty tight in your pics, but you never know! I would just about bet that you are going to have to put a middle support in the shaft, and put a jog in it like I did to clear the exhaust. Mine would have cleared with LS6 exhaust manifolds. You can probably get some headers that fit from Street and Performance. They make some block-hugger headers for the street rod guys that will probably work. Have them send you a set that has just been tack welded and not finished. That way you can hve them move the tubes around if needed to clear obstructions before finally welding them and ceramic coating them. I did not know they would do this when I bought mine, and If I had done this, I could have avoided the clearance issues with my steering shaft!

Rowdy the motor and transmition are allready mounted with motor and trans mounts.Remember this is a tube frame under the car and I ordered the frame specifly for a Big chevy with a 700R4 trans .It uses stock mounts

I definatly have to remove the fresh air intake to fit the valve covers on,I am waiting on a new evaporator for heat and air to figure out what has to be done with lines coming into the engine bay. I also have to drop the distributor in tonight to see if I have to modify the fire wall for that. And set a carb on it to see if I can use a stock hood.I am hoping I can use a 58 wash board hood but I always have the dear drop hood to fall back on

Most inportant now is to get some type of exchaust manifolds on so I can get the steering coulum done. The manifolds have to come first then I have to work the colum around the manifolds

You have probably already considered this maybe? Contact a chassis shop in your area for a custom made set of headers. Shops around here make them for $650 - $1000.

There is nobody by me who does this kind of work.

Yesterday I went to a speed shop to aquire some stuff. The owner of the shop was helping me he was so NASTY and condesending I had to walk out.

Now I remember why I only use mail order for parts and material.A freind had recomended this shop to me.I called him up and said the guy is rude why does he use him .My freind then explained I would get used to it.

HAH Any time I spend my hard earned money I want to be treated properly Not like he is doing me a favor. I am in the worst area for any type of aftermarket work. My interiour guy is more then an hour ride but well worth the trip

Well it pays to network.I got a lead on a set of headers made by sanderson (remember that name) any ways from the information I was given it looks like there going to fit with plenty of room to spare 3/16" of an inch. Should have them next week.

Hey Ken first and foremost thank you for the information on the part for my rear suspention I have one on order for my 62.
Next this fellow tsbar I think i was comunicating with him last year or the year before.(he was moving from his house) anyways if you speak to him ask him what he is using for radeator in his car.I was speaking to becools tecnical people and they had concerns about there radiator working because of the motor, trans, and a/c system. My goal is to build the motor around 400 (net hp)

You know I took some pictures and was uploading them so I could update you guys and my wife said leave them alone there probably just as tired of hearing about the 62 as she is.So I am just going to keep uploading photos to my on line photo album so check in with it often

PS I did get my master cylender and its mounted and I also got my new heat and a/c evaporator from classic auto air

Larry great progress. You are on the fast track to be sure. Keep the photos coming, can never get too many photos of a project like this! Can you keep the photo link in all your correspondence so we can keep checking from time to time to see how you are doing? Am I right in assuming the body comes back off when you get all your fitments taken care of?

Yes You are correct every thing is going in now to test fitment and find problems. Then every thing gets taken back apart and body gets seperated from frame.Frame goes to painter to be painted. and body goes on a body dolly (thanks john M) and then body dolly and body gets mounted to a rotisery and sent to a media blaster (I still have to find one or I have to purchase the equiptment and material and do it myself) hopefully the body shop will trade me the frame for the body so he can start work on it .Once frame is painted I have to polish and reassembled every thing and then await the return of the body.the body will go from the paint shop to the apoultry shop for a couple of days for him make some moc up panels and get ideas of what he is going to do custom to the inside. once he is done I get it back for reassembly then back to the upoulsty guy for him to finalise

Well I have my headers in and they barly fit.I am hoping I have the a arm shims in incorrect.Or Ill have to press a dimple into them.(Does anybody know if I can dimple
