Welcome to the Corvette Forums at the Corvette Action Center!

Why does my '68 not look like other '68s?

68 Roadster: sounds like we might have a Corvette party on our hands. I live in Dallas, so I suggested Irving.

Dman: the key is in the column.

Hi All, Welcome to the new members! Angryplanet please do not take this the wrong way. I'm from NYC area and I know a few body shop owners. They always told me that up here be very suspicious of vetts that have "glassed in " body mods. The reason that was given to me by them was that it is a royal PITA to do a vette body correctly using Factory parts. Further up here before you could not change the status of a title from salvage to used car it was common for the shops with good glass men to pick up wrecked vettes and turn them around. Having said that I am not saying that is the situation with your car! If that vette was for sale up here I would have it put on a frame rack before I bought it. I think the "mods" came out very well, quality work. You did have the frame/ whole car looked at before purchase? If not you might consider a good alignment shop you can trust just to make sure of no hidden frame issues. Plus as a bonus it will make it easier to see any 'glass' work from a point of attachment aspect. Please do not think I am being mean and petty, I am a product of my environment to some extent. On another note would not the "bird cage" have to be changed if you make T-top out of a vert? If the answer is yes, then you have a "frame-off" restoration car! Look at 67HEAVEN's web site to see how much work is involved in that! Good luck with the ride & enjoy! tt72

It's like someone bought a 68 and fixed everything like Chevrolet did in 69.....

Jon, did you say Hooters??? 114 in Grapevine???
Angry Planet proposed Irving as a middle point. It's right across the street from the Irving Mall on Airport Freeway (183 I think?) and Beltline. I suggest Sunday at Noon. It would be good to see you again.

All DFW area members should join! If you agree maybe one of you can post a new thread :) I'm in Puerto Rico right now and it's late. If I don't get to bed now I'll miss my meeting in the morning and more importantly my plane home :). I know it sounds like sweet duty but all I ever see here is the airport, hotel, and office.

Let me know and I'll be there.

looks like a regular convertible hardtop to me.... sort of like on this 68...

If you do want to remove it, keep in mind that if it attaches like a regular 68 hardtop there are SEVEN attachment points. 3 up front, at the top of the windshield, easy to find.. Then there are 2 pins or bolts at the back that go through the decklid. Not too hard to find. Then there may also be 2 bolts (one on each side) directly behind the door windows. The heads of these bolts may be hidden by little flaps on the top. It is easy to overlook these attaching points.
