Will the C5's drop in price once the C6's are out?

I agree, my wife and I went and looked at a new C5..(already selling for 15 grand off sticker) but we are going to wait and see what the prices do... i think the C5 s are much nicer than the C 6, maybe some changes will be made after a year or so..

New 04 Vert

Hey guys, Just bought a new 04 vert spiral gray with all options for 11K off sticker. Vey happy with it and hope it holds value as well as the other vetts i've owned.

History repeats itself time after time. Including the introduction of a new Corvette model.
Anyone who thinks the C5's will go UP in price is not on this planet or can not observe the history of automobile sales.

They have nowhere to go but down. If you don't believe me just ask all those 90 ZR-1 owners who paid the moon for one of the first year and now have lost their shirt. The C6 is much better all the way around :) . The C5 was designed about 10 years ago. It would be the same as buying a "new" 10 year old cell phone. It works, but it is nowhere as apealling as the current technology. The only reason I bought an 04 is that I couldn't wait any longer for another vette:v . I guess-timate it will be a couple years before they are sitting on the lots and you can get a real deal on one.

Clairification

By hold it's value I ment doesn't depreciate at the rate of other cars. Yes they will go down in value, but I hope by buying it for 11K under sticker that in a couple years I will have more equity in the car than say a Denali or cadilac.

I've been watching the prices of used C5s for a while now and they haven't come down since the C6 came out, not in Toronto anyhow.

The C5 prices around here have really dropped but I'm not sure it has anything to do with the C6 intro . Denali's , Escalades and many other higher end vehicles have plummetted too . In fact used car prices all across the board seem to be very low . Cliff

I just bought a 98 coupe for 21k. Always garaged and had 36k miles. Looked brand new. The guy traded it for a C6.

I bought a 97 for just under 20K there are a couple of minor issues that I will address over the winter, but for now I am depreciating it as fast as I can :L
just clicked over 75000 .

Patman, I don't know if Canadian dealer allocations work the same way as American dealer allocations, but generally, how many vehicles of a particular model a dealer will get is generally dependant on how many they sold the previous year. Thus, if the C6 becomes a popular vehicle, in order to get more of them, the dealers will have to move their remaining inventory of C5's. That creates a buyer's market of sorts and you can generally get some deals.

I know someone who bought a MY convertible with less than 17K on the clock with chrome rims and a nice catback for $31K. :D

There is a dealership here in Ohio advertising
100 New C5 Corvettes any color
15 grand off list price ,

Its in Amherst on Rt. 58 ..Thats a new C5 for what .. 35 grand?
Whats the name of the that dealership? I have been doing an internet search for the best deals-GM BuyPower-and most dealers are only offering $7,000 to $8,000 off. I found 2 that offered $10,000 but they tried to make it back by stealing my trade. I want a 2004. The 05s look too ordinary in the front. Not bad looking, just not corvette enough. I think its the headlights but each to their own. Here I am *****ing about no popups and I have mine tore apart cause they quit working. Where is Amherst? I am from Lima.

Hi Caninelver, My son is in school at York College. Almost rode out there today. Maybe we could hook up on one of my trips out to see him.

Nowwhere to go!!!!!!!!

Hi

The C5's are dropping at a faster rate then the C4's because there were a large number of C5's sold and coming on the market all at once.

The C5's were sold mainly to the older owners and the C4 was picked up by the younger generation. And l don't want to hear that you are 18 and have a C5 because you are not the norm.

Look at the numbers of C5's sold, you would be floored. And after 9/11 every man and women out there told themselves and wives that being that l can die any day, l want a vette now while l can breathe.

Alan

p.s. The C5's will rise again this spring to more acceptable levels.

LONG LIVE THE C5!!! and the C5-z06!!

THEY ARE GREAT CARS!

Look around in the tech center at production numbers and then the current prices of each generation:

C-1 with the exception of 1962 was never over 10,000 with most years quite lower

C-2 117,964 roughly 22,000 per year with 1966 at 27720

C-3 542,861 was the longest run with over 40,000 produced from 76-81

C-4 358,180 with 84 at 50,000 and then tapering off to slightly over 20,000 per year from 88 to 96

C-5 97-03 214,651 depending on the 04 production numbers roughly 250,000

one thing I did notice was that 97 production figures were only 9752 making it the 7th least model produced.

It seemed like they made more C5's than that. I had no idea they made so many sharks.

The good thing about C5's is that there are still brand spankin' new models at the dealerships that come with all the benefits of a brand spankin' new car. And I think that some of the dealers want them out so they can create some space for C6 allotments. At least that's what I would think.

Sounds like a plan. Actually, I work at the Phila airport so I spend all my time commuting, working or sleeping. This could give me an excuse to get the vette out. I see you were on the Enterprise. I was on the Independence from 64 thru 66. Did a Vietnam tour in 65 and Med cruise in 66. Let me know when you're coming, maybe we can meet.

Just traded my 2000 MY coupe with 47k miles for a C6. Paid 1K under MSRP for the C6 and got credit of $22,500 for the 2000. The dealer sold the 2000 the following day to guy i know for $25,000. Hope this info helps you out.
