I have received a new pair of window sweeps for my 91 as a Christmas Gift. I would like to know if there is a special tool or device that is required to remove the old ones with out creating collateral damge to the doors? Also Is this something that can be accomplished with out removal of the inner door panel?

By window sweep I take it you mean the outer door sill. I changed these on the 88 I used to have. If the 91 is similar you will most definately have to remove the door panel. The factory sill is riveted in if I remember correctly. You will have to drill out the rivets. The aftermarket sill's dont fit quite right either. You might have to open up the holes a bit on the new sill. Overall this is an easy job. Go for it, take your time and have fun.

You're going to like this link...http://www.corvettemagazine.com/2001/october/window/win-1.ASP
I will be doing the same project this spring too.

I replaced mine about a month ago. I didn't completely remove the door panel. I just removed the panel enough so I could fit my rivet gun between the door panel and the door. Once that was done I just removed what was needed to access the rivets. I used a drill only to loosen up the rivets then used a very sharp chisel to cut off the rivet heads and removed the old part. Make sure you have the holes in the new part lined up with the holes in the door before installing 'cause you can't slide them once they're on. I also found that using a rubber mallet to tap them down works well. Rivet them in and reassemble. The first one took me about 30 minutes. The second one only took me 15 minutes.
