Now that I got the molding off I need some suggestions on removing the glass. Do you remove the glass from the rubber seal or do you remove the glass with the seal attached?

Also I built the body dolly but wonder how to support where the doors were between the jambs? I bought the Noland Adams 'Body Removal Workbook' and found it to be pretty useless. It also makes a suggestion on roadsters to support by using wire rope but doesn't say how or where to support it.

Thanks for the advice.

Moon,
Since you will need to replace the weatherstrip with new, take a razor blade and slice it off. Then remove the glass and then the remaining piece of weatherstrip. Now you can clean out all of the old sealant and inspect the birdcage and outer molding clips. Thats how its done.

When you put it all back together, I used a heavy string wound around the weathstrip (frame's groove) and to get the strip in, I started at the bottom, pulling the string out of the groove, opening the strip and pressing it down and into the frame.

Haven't removed the body from my roadster, but I've seen a piece fabricated to bolt between the upper door hinge and the attachment point for the rear door catch assembly. Shouldn't be too difficult to get something like this in place prior to removal of the body.

I'm sure someone else who has been thru the procedure will also offer some helpful suggestions!

Here's another approach for stabilizing the door opening and the body; oak floor plank with fabricated aluminum brackets on each end that bolt to the hinge mount at the front and to the striker anchor at the rear.
