When I turn on the windshield wipers n my 85 they won't turn off until I shut the car off and then when I turn the key on they park. Any idea what is going on? Also while I am asking does anyone know where the speed sensor for the cruise control is?

I would think it is in the switch. It is something that I have never encountered before. Did you try doing a search? Maybe somebody else had this problem.

Good Luck

Craig

I dont know if there is a relay that actually powers the motors, but I would suspect there is. I guess that might be the cause for some problems. I am not familar with the wiring for that part of the car. Do you have any manuals for the car? I will check what I have, but I am still waiting for the Helm manual.

I had the same exact problem when I first picked up my 1984. I also changed the switch in the door & didn't fix the problem.

With the help of others on this site found it was the cover board located on the back of the windshield wiper motor. Four torx screw hold it on.

Cheapest I found a new one was at this web site:

www.tld-corvette.com/catalog.htm
Code: 562631
Price: $88.00

Found it in other catalogs at $100 & up.

I actually looked on ebay first & found an entire wiper motor out of a wrecked 94 & got cover & wiper motor for $35.00, but you take the chance of having the same problem. I contacted the seller first & he promised it worked fine & would refund my money if it didn't.

Either way you go I believe your problem is in the cover.:Steer

No problem. Glad I could finally help someone else for a change.:)

What part of Pa. are you in? I'm from the Lock Haven area.

Good luck fixing the problem. The cover board isn't hard to change but the bottom torx screw is a bit tough to get to. After changing the cover on mine wipers work fine.

I live North of Scranton. I have looked at the screws and haven't figured out how to get them out without taking the plenum off.

I was able to get at mine with a 1/4 inch rachet & extension witha torx socket for the top & 2 side screws. The bottom screw I ended up using a torx head bit like the changable type that would go in a screwdriver handle & a small 1/4 inch wrench on the bit. After many small turns & a few choice words :D I was able to get the screw out & back in.
