Ya see, Junk? A little experience and he becomes unaffordable. ;)
A man who Breaks allot of things is unaffordable Too!! But I haven' Seen that Beast back in and Running Yet!!:eek :eek :eek Remember I said By yourself!!;LOL ;LOL ;LOL :rotfl

Junk

I'm still amazed I was able to take as much apart on the '65 as I did and get it running again. This one is a lot more involved and with a LOT more crap on it with all the vacuum stuff, emmisions, etc.
If i can actually get it back together again AND running I'll truly be amazed! ;LOL

I won't - you've come a long way in two years; all you need is information - you can handle it! :)

Barry,
Dont underestimate yourself, you've come along way.I'm still having 2nd thoughts just pulling my distributor and making sure I'll get it back in rite.
When I had my 74 30 years ago I never thought twise about pulling the engine to swap it out for a SB 400.
Anyway, enjoy your new toy,I'm looking forward to your progress.
No mater how many threades it takes to get it done..Jim

thanks John, coming from you, of all people, that means a lot to me :beer
Believe me, if it wasn't for you and everyone else on here to provide that informaton I'd never be able to do it. in fact I wouldn't even attempt it!

So Barry

with the motor out of the 78,and your looking back ont the 65 thinking of all the parts you had off of it

Do you know regret not pulling the motor on the 65?

I always says its not brain surgery working on cars,You just have to think

Larry, I've thought about that ever since I finally decided not to pull the motor from the '65. I went back and forth on what to do regarding that at the time but finally realized i just really didn't need to pull it out. Overall the car was in very nice condition, I just wanted to try to make it nicer. A lot of people who had seen the car told me i was nuts to do as much as I did anyway and I should have left it alone and left what 'patina' was there on it.
I was able to accomplish what I wanted on the '65 without pulling the motor so no, I really don't regret it. BUT, I did learn today though that if I had decided to pull it it wouldn't have been a big deal to do it. As it was, I really was only the bellhousing and motor mounts bolts away from pulling it anyway.

remember, the '65 project was really my very first time doing any work on a car so doing as much as I did than and being able to get it all back together and running again was challenge enough for me at the time.

On this car, I was starting with a car in MUCH worst condition and the first time I laid eyes on her I knew that if I bought it the motor was coming out.

:beer

Barry....where are the photos of the pull????????????????

looks like you did a nice job on pulling that engine!!!!
when you go to put it back in, just take your time!!!!

Did you "Blast" any other parts yesterday. Alex and I went out for a cruise in the "Wood" and almost headed over your house....the car just went that way until I remembered you weren't home.......Re-Assemblly on schedule?

yep, spent a number of hours beading up a bunch more parts yesterday. Even got Linda to do a few pieces. She likes glass beading now and she did good for her first time :)

We will find out in two weeks if I'm on schedule. i'm hoping to get the motor and the frame/engine bay completed so that two weekends from now we can drop the motor back in.

WTG Barry.. :_rock

I think you already have a leg up on some of us (me for one).. ;)

Gary
i'm trying. I'm just learning as I go along and hoping that I don't mess up anything too badly.

You know if it wasn't for the great people on the forum I wouldn't even think about trying this stuff but when I run into problems I know where to come to for help. :)

Hey, have you noticed at all that i'm much further than I ever was on the '65 (h*ll, the frickin' motors out of the car!) and there have been hardly any "help, i'm stuck, what do I do now" threads?
:D
