Wrecked: Walk away or is there a chance?

hard to say Edmond(btw, Dino has a passion for 35th annys- has 2 on his showroom floor now)

We thought the rear end was going to need replacing just from the pics. But after seeing it in person, looks like a control arm (?). Since it was missing the pass rear tire, it caused the rear end to sit crooked on the trailer. His initial estimate was 3 grand to fix it up and then the cost of a repaint.

No tellin what he will ask for it when its done

Hey, Rain--
I'm up here in Jxsn. I'd read where Dino was moving to bigger digs and was wondering if the trip from here to Picayune would be worth it---in the Vette. After reading your post, I think I'll make the trip the next time I'm off and the weather is good. :Steer

Hey there - yes, He has quite a large clean slate to work with. 10 acres or so.
Maybe 100 vettes on the yard, and he had a pretty good stock of pulled / catagorized parts in the rear shop.
Still has a month to do I guess before he has the place ready for the general public.
Really nice to have it so close to home - 2 hour round trip for me and that includes stopping to eat, fuel up, or talk a while at the parts counter!

Looks like this is done but I woul offer some quick advice for anyone looking at wrecks. First is there frame damage? If so then probably walk away. Frame damage is expensive and difficult to repair. As for airbags they can be decieving. In the c5 the easiest way to tell is too look at the passenger one. If the section where it says Corvette (over the glove box) is now flush with the rest of it then the air bag has blown and someone just tried to make it look normal. Very few shops will take the time to make it indented again after it blows so that is a good give away. Also look for sodering jobs on anything metal. Finally look for inconsistencies on body panels. Does one have a small scratch that looks like it would have continued over to the next panel but doesn't? then it was replaced and you'll wwant to know why. And one last thing is check or make a point of asking about gaskets. If the car leaks water in a rain it may be that the seals got shifted upon impact. Thats all the pearls I got, maybe someone else has more.

When I saw you post I was afraid that your C4 had been wrecked:(…Thank god it was just a Z06! :z

Dino´s looks like a great place:) … I still know lots of folks from Picayune, they will be getting some surprise calls from me the next time Thunder needs parts.:D
