Anyone know of any C5's for sale for under $18k? My only requirements are that its an Auto, and it is in good condition. Will consider any color, coupe or vert (would prefer under 80k miles). I am in NH, but will travel for a good deal.

I could go higher only if I can get someone to take my 2005 Subaru Legacy GT Limited in trade.

Good Luck!

You should not have a problem but you would be better off looking for a 98/99 with 50,000 miles in the $19,000 area because l'm sure if you pick up one for $18,000 you will up dumping another $3000 in it right away or soon after,

If you cannot afford the $19,000 then l would pass and wait.

Thanks for the advice.

Finally found one.

No longer looking as I finally found one! Just got back yesterday with my new 2000 coupe. Has just about every option including Hud, CD changer, sport seats, Z51 and performance axle.

I had to fly out and drive it back (2000 miles taking the long way home to avoid storms), but it was well worth it as I got it for the area I was looking to pay.

Fantastic!!

Love to hear the good news and l am sure you will love it.

Congratulations...

I think the flying out and driving back is a cool adventure in your new Corvette....

What color is it and how was your drive back?

let us know.

It was a tiring drive. Since I ended up leaving Oklahoma a day and a half later than planned, I had to pretty much drive straght through to avoid the storms that were coming. Out of the 43 hours it took me to get home, 35 hours of it was actual driving time (had to stop once for a few hours of sleep). I got back safely though and avoided any snow. Since I will not be able to drive it again until probably late March due to the salt on the roads up here, it was good that I had the time to get well aquainted with the Vette on the 2000+ mile trip home.

Color is Dark Bolwing Green Metallic with Lt. Oak interior.

I've always admired that color combination. One of my personal favorites. Congratulations and that drive sounds brutal but one you'll always remember.

How'd it drive? Did it meet your expectations as far as speed and handling?

Are you glad you did it? How much if you don't mind me asking?

Thanks in advance.

JB

Welcome to the world of the C5 may the rest of your trips be more leisurly.

I am not a big fan of Green but I agree, it is a very nice and classy looking combination.

Yeah, I will definitely remember that trip. Drive for 12 hours, stop at a hotel for 6 hours (only about 4 1/2 hours was for sleep), drive for 20 hours, stop at Mohegan Sun casino in CT for 2 hours (and win $140), then drive 3 more hours home.

It drove great. No problems what-so-ever. Good power, the performance axle really makes a difference. I could tell the difference between this one and the regular geared C5's I have driven. I have driven 3rd, 4th, and 5th gen cars. I previously owned a C4. My C5 was very comfortable on this trip. I was pleasantly surprised. I always liked their ride, but I did not think it would be that comfortable for so long of a drive. It is night and day from my C4 (had an 89 Coupe). I was originally looking for a C4 last year, and after getting screwed by some sellers, I started looking for a C5 instead. I am so glad I did. It was well worth spending $8,000 more than I was going to spend on a C4 to get this C5.

Overall it is in good shape. Some little rock chips on the nose, but pretty good otherwise. Interior and undercarriage are spotless. It has higher miles than I was looking for (89k after my trip), but it runs strong, does not smoke or leak, and oil pressure looks good. Getting a 2000 Corvette in this shape for $18,000 (yup, that is it), I could not pass it up! The flight out and trip back only ran me about $600-$700 (and some lack of sleep). Overall, I am very happy with it. Now that I have a Vette again, I am going to try and make it to the cruise-in this year.
