Xpel Ultimate or other

Im thinking of putting xpel ultimate on a recently purchased 2012 GS centennial vert. The front is prestine though it has 10k miles on it and I want to keep it this way.

My question is they offer a full hood and partial bikini cut cut hood (both with half fender). I had a 2008 that I purchased new and did half hood and had no issues. In general what do most people do and has anyone gone with the partial hood and had chips or issues on the uncovered area?

Any help is appreciated as the cost difference is about $300.

I don't have experience with the Xpel brand although my understanding is one reason for Xpel's success in the market is it can undercut Scotchcal in price.

I've always stuck to paint protection film from 3M Scotchcal because I'm impressed with its durability. I have a 12-year old "clear bra" done with 3M Scotchcal on a 95 Coupe I own that is in good condition considering the miles on the car and how its been driven.

As a result I have 3M Scotchcal on two other Corvettes and on my Camaro.

Also, I always have PPF installed by a trained Scotchcal dealer. After watching him install three of the four clear bras we have, I'm convinced that, in most cases, it is not a DIY product.

As for the full or "half hood", I opted for the half-hood on my 95 and, if I had it to do over again, I'd do whole-hood or no hood. Due to the size of the hood panel, you can't ignore the faint line across the panel that is the edge of the PPF.

Thanks. I had the 3m on my 2008 and also had no issue with it but only had it for 4 years and did half way up. Xpel is mainly all the locals by me use or another brand and its not 3m and is only 10% less in cost. But the xpel has a 10 year warranty and is self healing which is amazing....I am leaning towards the full hood as I also feel that with the healing properties your dont leave any swirls but the rest of the hood you may see this....appreciate the feedback!

Yes makes sense. I was also wondering how it will blend with the half filmed fenders as on the bikini half cut the end lines come together.....Tx
