Just hung up the phone with my painter. He said the paint supplier just called and is sending over a new sample quart of paint and that according to the supplier it's dead on perfect to the sample panel we sent him to match. He checked the new mix under the lights in the store and also under the sunlight outside and it's a perfect match.
My painter will have the sample in his hands within an hour and after he checks it himself if it's as correct as the paint supplier says than he can use the quart to start cutting in areas while we get another gallon mixed up.

Finally, after 7 weeks of waiting on this paint the end may finally be in sight!

While we were waiting my painter has been working on another car that just went into the paintbooth yesterday so he will finish that car up and get mine in the booth Monday morning............as long as this paint is as correct as the supplier is saying it is.

Sitting here waiting for the report from the painter for him to look at the sample............fingers, toes, arms, and legs all crossed hoping everything turns out well today.

If all is well, Baby should have the first coats on her by Monday afternoon.

yes, we plan on keeping about a pint or so so we have it for rock chip touch ups and other future "boo-boo's"
;LOL

Great news, Barry!

There will be a shiney '65 back in your garage in no time!

Please keep the photos coming as the paint goes on.

once she is back, she won't be in the garage too much - I have 8 months of driving to catch up on!
;LOL

i'll post some more pics as soon as i get new ones with the paint getting put on - i've documented and posted everything else during this bodywork/paint project so I won't stop now and leave you all hanging. I'll keep showing progress pictures until she is done.

Babys finally being painted??

Barry...good news. Can't wait to see the new "BABY"...

HOUSTON: Everything is green and all systems are go!;)

Fantastic news Barry! I'm sure this is a big weight off your shoulders and your painters too and no doubt the patience reserves have just about run out. No point messaging you soon because you'll never be at home to read it, you'll be too busy racking up those cruising hours! We are all happy for you that this road block has finally moving aside for you and BABY will be home again real soon.

Barry -- are they going to have the cruise nights at Fox Run Shopping Center this year, I have not seen any listings for it.

I don't know, I haven't heard one way or the other actually. I was thinking about that just the other day. I hope they do. I only managed to be able to make it to one of those last year but it was a great cruise night.
I know that the shows up at Thomas Chevrolet (Rt. 1 a few miles north of Granite Run Mall) are on again this year and of course at Kahunaville every Sun.

Barry,

That is great news about the paint!!! Can't wait to see the final pics and to hear about all the fun you are going to have blasting around in the car this summer.

Take care,
Brian

the problem is i'm torn now between impatience to get the car back to drive her again or after getting her back being too scared to drive her after all this time and effort in the paint shop! ;LOL
Oh hell, what am I saying - i'll be driving her all over the place.
I know that very first rock chip is going to be the hardest for me to bear when it eventually happens, but such is the life of a driver car.

well, good news!
the painter just called me and said the sample quart they sent over was correct so we have paint!!!!!!!!!
YEAH!!!

She goes in the paintbooth Mon. morning now and he said about 2 days in the booth. After that it's just final buffing and reassembly.

wow, I can see that light at the end of the tunnel finally start to get larger now......

Barry,
I haven't seen my car for several weeks. Been dealing with some icedam and ceiling drywall damage from the winter. I tried some repairs but I was less than impressed with my work. So I bit the bullet and had a 30 x 48" skylight pulled out this week that was the culprit. The new roof sheathing, tar paper and shingles went on yesterday but now I have to do a inside/ceiling drywall job. Looks like a case of beer and pizza job with some friends this weekend.

I did 'phone the paint shop late last week and it looks like the first week in May for the re-emergence of the 1967. Last Friday my Brother took my former 1979 out of winter storage. It had a winter blues problem that is typical of a stored car; in the 17 years I owned that car there was always something every April. This year the transmission (TH350) would not shift properly. I reworked some vacuum lines to the vacuum modulator and all is now well. But the test drive after the repairs brought on......Corvette angst. Even in the smog era of 1979 the L-82 had some spunk. Still does.
