i'm in the very early process of planning an exhaust upgrade on my 98 c5. i'm torn between corsas or saving a few hundred and going with the zo6 exhaust.

has anyone put the zo6 exhuast on an ls1? did it make any difference? how was the sound? should i fork out the extra 300 bucks for the corsas?

i'd love to hear some opinions.

HI there,
Your biggest advantage is the different weights of the exhaust components.
Sound will change a little, but not alot.
Tone is the big change, due to the different frequency produced by the titanium.
Allthebest, c4c5:hb

aloha,
i actually heard what your talking about,as usual c4/c5 is on it,it did not sound that much different than stock c5 a little deeper tone.i didnt hear above 4000 rpms though.the zo6 has a pretty beffy cam, that probably generates some noise.my favorite is the stinger 2 tip(borla)i dont like the corsa motor boat sound.the borlas claim they weigh less than zo6.;shrug later,Todd.

I love mine. It is extremely light in weight, has a better tone and absolutely no resonance. I can't believe the Z06 folks are selling them. One of the best kept exhaust secrets in my opinion.

ZO6 Exhaust

I agree with c5specialist, the stock mufflers on a C5 weigh 22 lbs. each. Going with the ZO6 exhaust will save you 18lbs. total, they weigh onlt 13 lbs. each. I really don't like the sound of my ZO6 exhaust. It sounds too tinny to me. I'm probably going to go with some Borla Stingers as soon as possible.

one good thing about the Z06 titaniums is that they have no resonance that plague many aftermarket exhausts.

Stingers

Installed them today. Very happy with the sweet sound. This is what the zo6 should have sounded like in the first place. They only took 30 minutes to install. The engineers at Borla get an "A+".

Did mine a couple of months ago, got a nice deal on a Z06 set and couldn`t be happier. They talk quite nicely and I do notice a slight seat of the pants difference.

Where do you find a good used Zo6 exhast?

Has anyone matched LT's headers with a factory Z06 system? I am debating on a full Z06 (From the manifolds back) system or LT's.

I have the stock C-5 catback with a x-pipe and long tubes and the sound is great.

I have seen Z06 systems listed by Corvette salvager's and even some on Ebay. David, you maintaned the stack Catback, and have LT's correct, so how is the sound? I actually like the lower profile exhaust note.:pat

I love the sound. It is stealthy but quiet a bit louder than stock. I have a nice sounding cam and it really sounds good. With the catback unbolted it only dynoed maybe 10 more rwhp. So the exhast is not as restrictive as some think.

David Whats your current set-up? I am starting the planning stages and debating on buying all parts excluding engine block to convert my LS1 to a LS6. I have just read that the LS1 heads can flow enough to support 450 HP. The deeper I go the more confused I am getting.:pat

I have the TEA heads and a 224/224/581lift and 112ls cam. Double valve springs that come with the TEA1.5 and 2.0 heads. Yella Terra rollor Rockers and TPIS long tube headers, MTI X-pipe with the stock catback. As well as all the intake goodies. I am not sure of the horsepower right now I had 415 rwhp but it should be more to 425 right now.
The exhast sound is sweet it lets you hear the motor roaring instead of the exhast and I have several people that have rode with me that swears it is much nicer to hear the motor over the exhast.

Wow man you are heavy duty... TEA? can you provide a full name, and are/were the heads LS1 or LS6 based?

Total Engine Airflow. They are a big name head company. I have a friend that has a street driven 9 sec Mustang with TEA heads. They are very reputable.
I also have a Ram 980 centered disk clutch and slave cylinder for the extra power.

Just got new exhaust on my 99 C5 yesterday at the Corvette Funfest. They had vendors from Borla, Corsa, and Billy Boat installing their systems at 10% off and $50 installation donation to the NCM.:eek I got the hear several systems from the different vendors. Far and away the Corsa Pace Car system sounded the best on throttle and has absolutely no resonance on the highway. For the two day Funfest there were 12 Billy Boat, 17 Borlas and 32 Corsa systems installed. I am exstatic with the results.:Twist Hopefully you all will find this helpful. Tom.

Thanks TAH81, Great deal 50 bucks for install and I bet they really paid alot of attention to detail considering it was a Corvette event. Did you happen to see any SLP loudmouth systems?:pat
