Zora's Legendary EX87 Corvette Test Mule Offered at Mecum's Spring Classic

Chevrolet Dealer and noted Corvette Collector Bob McDorman will be bringing 25 unique cars to Dana Mecum's Spring Classic in Indianapolis in mid-May. Among those cars is the first true high-performance Corvette in history, the 1954 EX87 test mule that Zora drove to 163 mph at the Arizona Proving Grounds.

The real EX87 was purchased by a couple in Los Gatos CA in 1968/9. The car is TITLED as "EX87", carries a VIN tag stating EX87 and a California personalized plate "EX87".

It is a 1954 frame that has been converted to hold a V8; it now has a Powerglide but pieces are visible on the frame that at some time it also used a clutch/manual transmission. The body appears to be of 1955 vintage. The search for official documentation has been underway for some time.

May in INDY is always a crazy month. This year there will be many cocktails consumed to help sort out all the history at Dana's auction. There are some increditable cars going thru this auction.
