Hey everybody.

I see the topic of rims come up alot in these forums. Whether they will fit on this car if they're from this car/year. I have even asked a couple times myself. Does anybody have or can somebody make a chart or somethinbg we can all access that will help everyone out? Maybe a sticky note at the top of the forum. I know I would like it and use and I'm sure geogolf would too. ;)
So, can anyone help us out?

Hib did a really nice C4 suspension chart that covers the wheels, tires, springs, roll bars, etc. It's located here: http://corvetteactioncenter.com/tech/c4/susp_chart.html under the Tech Center links.

Maybe we can get Hib or someone else to create one for the C5 and C6. This would come in real handy when trying to check fitment between generations - like with C6 Z06 wheels and tires fit my 92 Vette?

BTW, the chart indicates that the 90 ZR1 front wheel is 17x9.5x56mm which is exactly the same as all 4 wheels on a standard 90 Vette.

moonunit and tuna thanks for info about rims helped alot on the chart of moonunit rear wheels on 90and up zri were 17/11 36mm backspaceing if i wanted to put set of 17/11 on my 90 base would i want the 17/11 36 mm or 17/11 56 mm i dont want tire to stick out of fender if i can help it i promise i wont ask any more rim ?s

It's a good question. I think the 36mm would be correct, however the GS has 50mm. Go figure.

AFS Wheels shows 36mm offset for 84-87 and 50mm offset 88-96 :confused

I'm running the ZR1 5-spoke 36mm offset wheels on the rear of my car and they definitely stick out.

The suspension geometry changed from 87 to 88 and so did the wheel offset.

If you want 11" wheels on the rear of a 90 C4 and do not want them sticking out, then you will need to use a Grand Sport style offset of 50mm. The problem there is that the 50mm offset doesn't come in a 90 style wheel - only the "A-mold" or late ZR1 style.

If you put late C4 (88-96) wheels on an early C4 (84-87), you'll need spacers to set them out correctly. If you try to go the other way, they will not fit the bigger brakes used on the late C4.

Not to hijack, but, Tuna, maybe you can answer this for me. I put a 90 D44 batwing cage and driveline in my 86, kept the original halfshafts and brake system. I have the 36 mm AFS and they stick out about an inch or so.

Question is, by changing the parts I did, did I change to the later offset? Would the 50 mm later offset, suck them in where they belong? Funny thing is that sawblades seem like they are in too far. :confused 9.5's with 315's below, 11's with 315's above.

ZR1 fronts will fit a regular 90 fine. Rears will not, they'll stick out, because the ZR1 rear rim has a 36.5mm offset and the 90 will need a 50mm offset.

Part of the suspension geometry changes in 88 included a change in wheel offset. Although the rear parts off a 88-96 can be put into a 84-87 to change its rear offset to 50mm, the front cannot be changed, it stays 38mm in 84-87.

So if you got the D44 out of a later year, and changed things like spindles and such, then you've changed your offset.

What he said.

From your pictures, yours tires stick out about as much as mine do. That's why I added GS flares and fender splash guards - they help keeping the rain and mud off the rest of the car but not as much as I would like.

Thanks guys, no, I didn't change the spindles and brakes. Would a 50 mm offset bring em in under the car though?

It would certainly help.

The difference (14mm) is about .55 inches, so there would be some relief.
