If I had the cash, I wouldn't hesitate. Unfortunately, an honest cop's salary doesn't allow such extravagance. That being said, I'm somewhat doubtful whether a Corvette, even a limited edition one, would be successful.
Many of the folks who are buying cars in the $100K range are looking to be members of an exclusive club, so to speak. My neighbours bought an Aston-Martin DB9 last year because they wanted something different, something exclusive, something unique and cost wasn't a huge factor for them. They were considering a Porsche 911 turbo or a Maserati Coupe GT. I suggested the Aston-Martin and, after a bit of research, they bought one... and a handsome beastie it is!!
If there was a Corvette in the same range, it would have to be completely different from the standard Corvette models... enough so that it would need a different name. As much as the Corvette name sells cars in the current price range, it would take away exclusivity from an upper-end model.
