Hello,

I have heard conflicting reports, so i'm hoping someone can set me straight.

I usually hear that you have to remove the tach from behind the dash board.
However, i have heard that on 1978 and later you can remove them from the front. My tach just jumps up to 7k and stays there. I want to remove it and clean the connectors and see if that helps. I just need to know how to get it out.

Thanks!

Wow you answered your own question thats pretty cool, so do tell how do you do it and can be done on a 76, i hate not having a tack but don't want to remove the dash again to get at the tack circuit board? :)

I think you have to remove the tach on a 76 from behind. They redesigned the interior layout in 1978 (i think). On the older design, I don't think you can get it out from the front.

Hopefully someone with an older car can help.
You may find some old posts if you search the archives.

Good Luck!

I'm still amazed you answered your own question. That never works for me. Wait a minute, let me give it a shot. When will I be worth a million dollars?
