wheel key location

Hello,
I just joined this site and i have a question. where is the lug nut key found on a 98C5 convertable.

, as for a lug nut key...C5 corvettes do not have jacks or lug wrenches on board. They come with run flat tires. If you are looking for the key for wheel locks it could be anywhere in the car, usually in glove box or console. Hope this helps.

Right off the top of my head, I don't know which of the three compartments in the trunk, but it should be there.

Maybe I'm missing something here...oil temp, or oil pressure? Your oil temp should be hitting way over 80!

The lug key should be in the drivers side rear compartment. There is a small indent where is designed to go.

If your oil pressure is pegged you have a bad oil pressure sensor. This is a common issue on the C5.

I've never had to replace mine but I'm handy with a wrench so it would be the cost of the sensor for me. Not sure how much the sensor costs but its a pain to get to. Its behind the intake manifold.

I had the same thing happen with my sending unit. I checked to be certain the oil LEVEL was okay, then drove it home and parked it until I could take it to my Corvette mechanic for replacement.

I can't speak with any authority as to the safety of driving it an extended period of time with a faulty unit, but personally I wasn't willing to bet my engine on it.

The sending unit is the only thing bad so the high false reading wont hurt your engine. But if your oil pressure drops out of normal range you wont have anyway of knowing and that will hurt your engine.

Did you find the lug nut wrench key? I assume you have by now but as someone else already said they are just under the panel that lifts up in the back of a coupe anyway, they are fitted in a cut-out just for them so they may be just a little difficult to see unless you really look around, it will be on the drivers side. Again this is on a couple so I am not sure it is the same location :confused for a drop top; but I would think so!

Take a good strong flashlight. Look in the rear under the storage hatch (covers ... lids .. whatever ya' call em'), for a small indentation and the key ... which is also a dark color ... should be in there.

Black carpets, dark hatch and a dark key ... it was a bit tough to spot.

My former mechanic charged me something like $170 to "break" the lugs off when he was doing the tires because he couldn't find it.

I missed it too when I got the car home but after someone on this forum told me where to look ... once I did a second search ... with a small flashlight, I found it right off.

I am still trying to find the lug nut wrench key.. the previous owner said they were in one of the rear comartments.. he says there is a toolkit somewhere in the car... but where. he doesn't remember
