Question: Choke pull-off operation

Okay, now that I have re-installed the electric choke and the choke pull-off, made the adjustments accoarding to Lars...no more eye stinging super rich exhaust at start-up now....Yeah.....

Choke pull-off operation...???...I started the car....watched the choke plate fully open, adjusted fast idle speed....then kicked-off the fast idle....the choke pull-off never released...it was pulled in full the entire five - seven minutes I ran the engine....is this normal.....because this would not allow the secondary air valves to open, even when revving the engine up a bit....it stayed pull in tight.

it will always have full vacuum till you put a load on the engine. the vacuum does got away till then and then the secondary air flap will open.

I was thinking that it would take under load to see the secondary air valve released. I need to check the spring tension on secondary air valve as well. Don't want the valve held back, nor do I want it flopping open when the engine pulls them open.

The choke pull off opens the choke right after a cold start to give it some more air. I forget the actual number of degrees. The pull off stays retracted as long as there's enough vacuum to hold it that way. The secondary air valve is locked out when it's cold by the choke thermostat. Once it's warmed up, the 'stat spring turns and unlocks the air valve.

The air valve will not open sitting in the driveway. Yes, adjust the air valve then take it out and floor it (in a safe and legal manner). You should be able to here those big secondaries kick in.
