just waht to say hello
and ask a question would a missing screen in the mass air flow sensor cause th eservice engine light to come on
 
I don't know if it will cause the light to come on, but I will say that that is a fairly common mod that people do to increase horsepower :upthumbs....does it actually increase HP? :confused I wouldn't bet on it, but just saying that it is common. :w
 
thanx for the help not realy sure just picked the car up the other day and while i had the maf off i broke the screen and now yhe light is on

I'm not an expert but all I've read is that it is ok to remove the screen and it will not make the check engine light come on. I removed mine with no problems. Chevrolet finally decided that the screen was not needed on vettes and stopped using it. I think they used it on other vehicles with curved air intakes to straighten out the air flow.
